Dear His Holiness Dalai Lama,
My daughter, Joy Elise Ferchaud, died immediately in a car accident on January 12, 2022. I learned about this video Saturday February 12, one day away from what would have been her 20th Birthday. Joy was born February 13, 2002. During her funeral a family member spoke and advised the funeral attendees to look for the word "JOY" in places and remember her and also know that we were getting 'messages' from Joy at times when we randomly saw her name. It is with joy that I received your Mission: JOY video. I shared it with some family members.
I deeply loved watching your video collaboration with Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Thank you for this contribution to humanity and all you do for the world. I hope you have a very joyful reunion with your friend Arch as soon as you see fit to do so!
In this lifetime, I was introduced to Tibetan Buddhism at the age of 23. My room mate at that time worked for Tibet House NYC, under the direction of the Thurmans. What can I say, the Buddhism grew on me! This was particularly true after I took part in a weekend teaching and empowerment at the beautiful Chagdud Gonpa in the forests of Oregon.
Later that year I was able to attend a weekend empowerment given by the Tibetan Buddhist Lineage Holder of the Healing Buddha. Like you, he had to flee Tibet through the mountains when he was young to escape the Chinese invaders. (Unfortunately I cannot recall his name, and my internet searching has not been successful). The 3 day long empowerment was particularly for those who are called to help other sentient beings by using the healing arts. I was already practicing massage therapy, but later became a Registered Nurse.
