A few weeks prior to the event, I had agreed to go to a trivia night at a pub, which was to raise money for charity. I was very tired and not eager to leave my home, but went out of obligation to the commitment I had made. I was also a bit anxious, having agreed to meet my friends at the venue, but not wanting to go in and hang out alone in a pub before they got there. As soon as I entered, I was greeted by unexpected familiar faces of those I hadn’t seen in a long time, which filled me with ease and gladness. I met new people at my table and it felt good to connect with them and hear their stories. It was fun to interact as a team, all contributing to the effort. I laughed, was very engaged, and felt like a valued member of the group. It also felt good to be contributing to a charitable cause through our participation. The evening was relaxing and energizing at the same time - I forgot all about being tired. I came home uplifted and v glad I went.
