I had volunteered to help with a Border Collie rescue group at an event in Flagstaff. They asked if I could be responsible for one of the dogs for the weekend that was ready for adoption. I took "Chance" out for a walk and I knew he would be mine and his name would be Sweet William, aka Willie. Those amber eyes spoke to me. It was not lost on me, that the group had plans to have Willie and I make a connection, but I was still in awe of the joy I felt with this sweet boy. He was around 2 and I bonded with him for the next 12 years or so. There were times I felt like I didn't do him justice, but overall, I so knew in my heart that he was meant to be mine, his flaws and my flaws combined. Such a special connection.
